Wine Trail, lunch and Oia

6 h. tour (Private tour)

(Transportation + guidance all the way + wine tasting experience in three wineries + Perivolos beach getaway + visit of Oia village)

It wouldn't be much of an exaggeration, to say that Santorini is an island famous all over the world. There are so many things that are so unique about this island, which was once cursed to get totally destroyed by the volcanic eruptions, but is today blessed to have so many people from all over the world arriving to visit and photograph its unique landscapes. The volcanic dehydrated soil contributes into its fame for excellect quality of grapes and wines, cherry tomates, fava beans and the white eggplants. The vine groves produce a wine rich in taste, but in limited production, therefore not much of it is being exported and your visit and tasting of it locally will be quite a treat. As you will be driving pass the fields you will notice that the vineyards are nothing like what you see in the rest of the world. They are kept low and just above the soil, so that they absorb every single drop of moisture that come from it. The older plants look like handwoven baskets.

Your tour will begin with a Wine Trail experience in three famous wineries, accompanied by your tour director. You will have a chance to taste a variety of fine wines, visit a wine museum and learn many things about all the stages of the traditional production of these wines.

After that you can visit the Perivolos, one of the island most famous beaches, where you can have lunch by the seaside at one of the tavernas or you can go for a swim, weather and time permitting.

One of the most famous villages in the world is the village of Oia, located at the other side of the island and standing out beautiful and full of impressive traditional houses and domed churches. You will need to spend at least one to one and a half hour there, in order to make the most of it. You will be able to admire the magnificent view of the Volcano and the Caldera, in the tranquil environment of Oia village, have coffee and taste traditional Greek pastry, or enter some of the very exquisite fashion boutiques there are. At the end of the tour you will be get back to Fira and back down to the port in time for the tender boats to your cruise ship.

Client Testimonials

Niki's knowledge of the history there as well as how she related it to all of us was a perfect balance!
Julie
Niki knows her stuff, and she comes across as an intelligent and credible source of verified information. My wife and I used her as our group tour guide in Olympia and then again in Athens, and we were very pleased.
Tony
I definitely recommend other cruisers to book independently through Niki Vlachou.
