5 h. tour (Private tour)
(Transportation + guidance all the way + guided tour of Akrotiri + visit at Red Beach + tour of Oia)
The tour will start with a drive to the archaeological site of Akrotiri where you will board your guided tour and you will explore the ruins of the Minoan Bronze Age settlement, which was destroyed in a volcanic eruption and covered in ash, thus preserving the remains of several objects and artworks. The duration of the tour is approximately 60 minutes, but is at your discretion to make it last as long as you need. The site is covered by a large canopy, so you will be under the shade.
After a short drive to the famous Red Beach for photographs, you will drive to the village of Oia. Walk along its narrow streets which typify the white-painted houses of the Cyclades. In many cases they are built directly into niches which are cave houses used by crew of the ships, on the lip of the volcanic crater, between which are narrow alleys and blue-roofed churches with cupolas and neoclassical mansions that used to be captain’s houses in the 19th century. From there you will admire the magnificent view of the Volcano and Caldera, have coffee and taste traditional Greek pastry and then get back to Fira in time to get on board your ship.
Kindly note that due to rock falling some times the visit at the Red Beach is prohibited by the local authorities. In such a case we will visit the picturesque traditional village of Megalochori.

On the height of 300 meters(900 feet) lies the castle of Larissa or Argos, very well preserved and standing out from the distance.
Ancient Nemea was one of the most important sanctuaries dedicated to Zeus in ancient Greece. One of the four panhellenic games were held in its stadium, the Nemean Games, after which the winners would be crowned with wreaths made of celery leaves. The simple yet impressive stadium still remains with its starting and finishing blocks in place, as well as with the crypte totally intact. That was the ancient tunnel through which the athletes were entering in the nude the stadium, symbolizing their purification and their rebirth process. A few meters away from the stadium remains a small part of Ancient Nemea that has been excavated, from which the reconstructed doric columns of the temple of Zeus really stand out. You will hear lot of explanations about the history of the place from your tour guide and you will also be able to explore the small museum that there is.

Nafplion to Ancient Corinth
5 h. tour (Private tour)
(transportation + local guidance in Ancient Corinth + photo stop at Corinth Canal + free time)
You will be met by your driver at the port, where you will get off the tender boats. With your private vehicle you will depart from the beautiful city of Nafplion and you will be driven for about one hour to the famous Corinth Canal, passing through the lush valley of Argolis with its many olive groves, lemon and orange trees, before you get on the main highway. Unfortunately almost nothing remains of it since the modern city was built on top, except for the ancient theater that was carved out of the rock of the Larissa hill. On the height of 300 meters(900 feet) lies the castle of Larissa or Argos, very well preserved and standing out from the distance.
The man made Corinth Canal, which is where the mainland splits from the Peloponnese and where the Ionian sea meets with the Aegean, was dreamed to be built since the ancient times. Emperor Nero of Rome was the first to attempt to build it, bringing 16,000 prisoners and inaugurating its constructions with a golden shovel. Three months later Nero dies along with the dream of its construction until finally after Greek's liberation the actual construction takes place in 1881 and lasted for 12 years. You will have a short stop there, where there are also cafeterias you can visit and the bridge you can walk over, from where you will see the breathtaking canal and photograph it.
It's a very short drive from there to the ancient site of Corinth, where your licensed tour guide will be waiting for you to greet you and to take you on a detailed exploration of ancient Corinth's site and museum. The impressive Acrocorinth fort was built right on top of where the ancient city used to be and still stands out from a distance. Most of the remaining ruins are from the Roman era, except for the still standing monolithic columns of the temple of Apollo. You will see the Roman Odeon, the Ancient Springs, the Agora, the Bema from where St. Paul preached, the archaeological museum with some extraordinary samples of the Corinthian pottery, as well as the amazing view to the sea and the valley, proving why that city was so important and world famous back then. Among other things it was famous for some of the most corrupted business men that were living in it. The legend of Sisyphus, who cheated even Hades himself, emphasizes and exemplifies their way of thinking. That was also one of the reasons why St. Paul decided not only to visit, but to spend 18 months of his life there, preaching about ways of virtuous life.
The impressive Acrocorinth fort, with its walls remaining in most parts in a very good condition, will help you understand even more why in antiquity they used to say that it was one of the "eyes" of the Peloponnese and that whoever would manage to conquer it, would easily be able to conquer the rest of Greece.
At the end of your guided tour you will be given some free time to walk around, to photograph the different impressive views and to take in as much as you can of the history of this place.
As soon as you meet your driver back at the parking area, you will be offered the drive back to Nafplion and either you can get back to your ship, or if time allows it you can enjoy walking around the old city.
Nafplion to Mycenae
4 h. tour (Private tour)
(transportation + local guidance in Mycenae citadel and the treasury of Atreus + free time)
You will be met by your driver at the port, where you will get off the tender boats. With your private vehicle you will depart from the beautiful city of Nafplion and you will be driven for about 30 minutes to the archaeological site of Mycenae passing through the lush valley of Argolis with its many olive groves, lemon and orange trees. On your way you will drive pass the Mycenean citadel of Tiryns and you will be impressed by its remaining cyclopean walls. Once upon a time there used to be a two story high palace of great importance on top of that hill. Continuing your drive you will also pass from the outside of one of the most ancient cities of Greece, dating back to 6000 BC, the city of Argos. Unfortunately almost nothing remains of it since the modern city was built on top, except for the ancient theater that was carved out of the rock of the Larissa hill. On the height of 300 meters(900 feet) lies the castle of Larissa or Argos, very well preserved and standing out from the distance.
Once in Mycenae you will be met by your officially licensed tour guide and you will board an approximately two hour private guided tour through the treasury house of Atreus and the ancient citadel.
The Mycenaeans were very strategic and were always choosing the places to build their citadels having always in mind the defensive advantage over the attacks by their enemies. Therefore Mycenae was built at the one side of the lush valley, where most of the inhabitants of it would be occupied with farming, with the very steep and rocky mountains on the other side. There was only one way to reach the citadel and that was extremely well fortified, even more than what they really needed. The cyclopean walls, consisted by huge conglomerate blocks of local stone, still make us wonder how they managed to move them all the way up there. Cannons, guns and similar weapons did not exist at the time, which makes us think that these walls were mostly there to scare off the enemy and to show off how wealthy and powerful they were.
You will first stop and visit the beehive tomb of Agamemnon, as most of the locals call it, although the official name of it is the treasure of Atreus. Very much influenced by the Egyptians, with whom they had a great connection and commerce going on, the ancient Mycenaeans gave very big importance to their funerary customs and to where the royal family's last residence would be. The beehive tombs were being built many years before the death of whoever was supposed to be buried in them, impressing the people and giving additional honor to the "owner" of the tomb. There were at least nine monumental beehive tombs around the Acropolis of Mycenae, but this one is the largest and most impressive, which at the same time is also very well preserved. Walk inside the tomb passing the ancient pass that was leading to its one and only entrance and enter the tomb that still stands intact. Once inside you will see another smaller gate leading to an extra room, which must have been the treasury house of it. If the assumptions of the archaeologists are correct and this was the tomb of Agamemnon, try to imagine the amount of gold and jewels that must have been placed there, in order for him to take with to the afterlife.
Afterwards you will get back to your private vehicle for a short drive up the hill. From the parking of the site you will start ascending towards the citadel, seeing parts of the ancient city and two more beehive tombs on one hand and the cyclopean walls on the other. Take a deep breath as you finally reach the legendary Lions' Gate, the one and only official entrance to the citadel that still bears the emblem over the gate that represents a column protected by two lions. See the marks of where the massive wooden gates and locks used to engage with the walls and enter. Walking a bit further uphill, you will have a magnificent view of the whole valley that ends by the port of Nafplion, the outside remainings of the ancient city, as well as the grave circle A which is inside the walls and was excavated by Heinrich Schliemann. Among the several skeletons on fetal position were found jewellery, seal stone rings and golden masks that were weighting 14 kilos in total. One of the masks was so different and impressive, that Schliemann yelled out that he had found Agamemnon's tomb, to be proved wrong when the treasury of Atreus was unearthed. This huge treasure from the grave circle A is now in display in the national archaeological museum of Athens.
At the end of your guided tour you will be given some free time to walk further up the citadel and reach the top, where the palace with two floors used to exist and for the more adventurous of you, you can even walk down the other side where the underground spring exists or to where the secret gate of the citadel was that only a few knew of its existence. Be prepared for a lot of hiking on steep rocks and to being exposed to the weather conditions since there are almost no trees inside the citadel today.
On your way down you can also make a small deviation and go visit the museum of Mycenae, which although it mostly has copies of the treasures that are displayed in Athens, it still is very interesting. Among other things you will see wall paintings(frescoes) from the palace and local houses, armor and weapons, a collection of pottery, jewellery made of seashells and non precious beads, as well as tablets that still bear the inscriptions of Linear B syllabic script.
As soon as you meet your driver back at the parking area, you will be offered the drive back to Nafplion and either you can get back to your ship, or if time allows it you can enjoy walking around the old city.

Since Epidaurus used to be one of the most famous ancient Greek healing centers and health treatment was very much related with the worshipping of the gods, the priests were often at the same time the healers of people. Partly restored and very impressive stands out the Avaton, a long rectangular building where the patients had to spend their first night and the god would come to their dreams. Part of their treatment would be based on that dream - message that the god had sent. With the great success that this sanctuary and healing center kept on having, more and more visitors with even more precious offerings kept on coming, and the evolution of the sanctuary was that created the need of building the ancient theater.
The first phase of it was built on the 4th century BC and the second one when the Romans took over. Climb up the steps with your guide and reach the absolutely impressive theater which still stands there after 2400 years, almost intact. Listen carefully to the explanations about the way it was built, and the way that the acoustic triangles spreading from the orchestra all the way to the rows of seats made and still make this theater so unique. No matter how high up you choose to sit, the acoustics will still be absolutely impressive even if someone whispers or breaths deeply.
Still today this theater is used every summer for the festival of Epidaurus between July and August on the weekends at night. Many performances take place, including ancient Greek tragedies and comedies. People from all over the world arrive to experience this unique atmosphere along with a play. Many foreigners buy their tickets in advance and come to watch a play and even if it's "all Greek to them", they always leave fascinated from this acoustics experience.

The feeling of your voice spreading out all over the theater will be fascinating. During your free time you can also go for a quick walk through the tiny museum. Most statues and artifacts are in display in the archaeological museum of Athens, but some copies of them along with several marble bases with inscriptions and some of the ancient tools the doctors used, can be found there.
As soon as you meet your driver back at the parking area, you will be offered the drive back to Nafplion and either you can get back to your ship, or if time allows it you can enjoy walking around the old city.
