Your professional licensed tour guide and local expert will meet you right next to where you will come off the ship and your private walking tour will start. Your guide will present to you all of the long and complicated history of this city and of Northern Greece and will try to make your visit pleasant and fun, pointing out along the way, the historical buildings and squares of the city. You will mostly be walking around the lower part of it, where there is not much hiking involved, but you will keep having in the distance the view of the city's Byzantine castle, the tall modern apartment buildings all around the rock the city seats on and several other parts of it.

Among the places you will visit will be the Archaeological Museum, the two-story aqueduct (Kamares) which was built by the Turks in the 16th century and supplied the castle with water, the remaining walls of the old town, Imaret which is a monument of Islamic architecture built by Mehmet Ali, the founder of the Egyptian empire, the house where Mehmet Ali was born, and more. At the old port you will love taking photos of the several tens of wooden boats there are, which fish hundreds of kilos of fish every day. Next to them are lined up a few of the most famous fish taverns in Greece and at the end of your tour you will be able to go there and enjoy a snack and local specialties, accompanied by a glass of Mytilene’s ouzo, or a beer. Your guide would love to give you suggestions before the end of the tour on how to get back to the ship or where to go and eat. Enjoy free time strolling along the promenade, relaxing in one of the cafes or visit the local market for some local products.
