Daily from July 1st until September 30th. The tour’s assembly time is from 09:10 until 09:30. At 09:30 the tour will start.

This local tour is designed to serve the several individual travelers who will be visiting Olympia between July 1st and September 30th. This tour is available either in English or in French. It won't be a bilingual tour but we will be using different guides each time for each language from the hand picked team of qualified guides that we work with.

Our goal is to offer you a complete historical experience off-the-beaten track. The tour is designed for those of you that want to have an insight of the history and masterpieces of Olympia that only a licensed tour guide can present to you the best way, on a value for money tour.

Once in Olympia, the highlights to visit are the Archeological Museum also called the New Museum and the Archeological site, which are the two places we will guide you through.

There are also the museum of the History of the Olympic Games (Old Museum) and the privately owned museum of ancient Greek technology of Archimedes, which we suggest that you explore, if you have time, on your own. The opening hours of both these museums are subject to continues changes and you can contact us, giving us the date of your visit, so that we provide you with the exact opening hours.

In the archeological site, among several other remains of important buildings, you will see the gymnasium and the palaestra, the round Philipeion, the workshop of Phidias where the gold and ivory statue of Zeus was built, the temples of Zeus and Hera, the altar where the Olympic torch is being lit in the modern days and the ancient Olympic stadium.

In the archeological museum are housed all finds that were excavated from the archeological site. Bronze and clay offerings (tripods and figurines), armor, vases, the tools and cup from Phidias's workshop, the gorgeous Hermes by Praxiteles, the Nike by Paeonios and the very impressive and very well preserved classical statues from the pediments of the temple of Zeus, etc.

Wireless tour guide system is included in the tour, as per the guidelines for the protection against COVID-19. Please note that inside the museum it is mandatory for the guests to wear a mask (non surgical), so please arrange to have one with you.

Cette visite est créé pour rendre service aux voyageurs individuels qui visitent Olympie entre le 1 juillet et le 30 septembre. Cette visite est disponible en anglais ou en français. Ce ne sera pas une visite bilingue, puisqu’ on emploie à chaque fois deux guides différents pour chaque langue de l'équipe des guides professionnels qualifiés, avec lesquels on travaille.

Une fois à Olympie, les points forts à visiter sont le musée archéologique, également appelé le nouveau musée, et le site archéologique, qui sont les deux endroits où notre visite guidée aura lieu.

Il y a aussi le musée de l'histoire des Jeux Olympiques Antiques (vieux musée) et le musée privé de la technologie grecque ancienne, ou musée d'Archimède, que nous vous proposerons d'explorer, si vous avez le temps, par vous-même. Les heures d'ouverture de ces deux musées changent souvent et vous pouvez nous contacter, en nous donnant la date de votre visite, afin que nous vous fournissions les heures d'ouverture exactes.

Au site archéologique, parmi plusieurs autres vestiges des bâtiments importants, vous verrez le gymnase et la palestre, la rotonde de Philip, l'atelier de Phidias où la statue de Zeus, d’ or et d’ ivoire, considérée parmi les sept merveilles du monde antique, a été construite, les temples de Zeus et de Héra, l'autel où la torche olympique est allumée pendant les jeux olympiques modernes, ainsi que l'ancien stade olympique.

Au musée archéologique sont logées toutes les trouvailles qui ont été excavées au site archéologique. Offrandes en bronze et en terre cuite (trépieds et figurines), une armure , vases, outils et la coupe de Phidias, retrouvée à l'atelier de Phidias, le magnifique Hermès de Praxitèle, le casque de Miltiades de la bataille de Marathon, la Nikee de Paeonios et les statues classiques très impressionnantes et très bien conservées des frontons du temple de Zeus, etc.
